Why Should You Adopt Sheepdogs Rather Than Buy From A Shop?

Adopting sheepdogs from a rescue center or animal shelter enables you to save an abandoned life. There are many other reasons which make adopting a better option than buying a sheepdog. The common notion in people when it comes to adopting or buying a sheepdog is that why should one settle for a second hand or a used thing when they can get a brand new.

This belief is not only very silly but also very hurtful. Animals are living beings just like us and once being abandoned does not mean that they cannot be owned again. Some believe that sheepdogs from animal homes are not purebred or are not healthy.

When You Adopt A Sheepdog, You Help To Stop Irresponsible Breeding

Puppy mills are well-known to everyone today. They are centers where sheepdogs are bred irresponsibly only to make them available to buyers. Here, sheepdogs are forcibly bred only for money. Dogs for adoption here are not cared for and are in fact, kept in tiny cages where they are made to breed repeatedly until their bodies can no longer reproduce. After that, sadly, they are either discarded, abandoned or killed.

These animals do not know what love is. Sheepdog stores get their newborn sheepdogs from these puppy mills to make them available to their customers who get lured by puppies of the high breed. If you are buying your sheepdogs from a sheepdog store, it is possible that you are supporting these puppy mills.

When You Buy Sheepdogs From Shelter Homes, You Save A Life

Animals shelters are often over full. They receive abandoned animals every day. Sometimes, they have no choice but to refuse more animals as they are running full already. If you make a decision to adopt, you save a life by making room in the shelters for more adoption. Animals that are sick or are less likely to be adopted are euthanized by shelter home people because they have to keep making space for many more.

According to the Human Society of America, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized every year who could have otherwise found loving homes. Adopting helps you save a life and give love and care to an abandoned soul. You not only put a smile on their faces but also on yours.

Sheepdogs  Adopted From Animal Shelters Are Healthy

There is a common myth that animals from shelter homes are not healthy. But actually, it is the complete opposite of this. The dogs for adoption from shelter homes are neutered and vaccinated periodically. They are fed healthy meals and a veterinarian is always present to take care of them. What they just need is a happy home where they are treated with love.

Adopted Sheepdogs Are Well-Behaved

Another misconception amongst people is that the dogs for adoption in these centers are unruly or misbehaved. But the main reason why animals are put in shelter homes is not that they are unruly but because they had to suffer from bad ownership. The animals are rescued and put in shelter homes when they are abused, ill-treated or abandoned.

Sometimes, couples end up in a divorce or a partner dies, which leads the other partner to put the animal in the shelter home. Sometimes, families face financial issues and are unable to take care of the sheepdog. These animals desperately need a second chance at love and are always waiting for an owner to shower them with hugs and kisses.
